Fold size against carry-on limits
Folded size is the main reason to buy either one. In our stroller fold size and weight chart we check every stroller against two boxes:
- 22 x 14 x 9 in: the carry-on limit Delta publishes.
- 22 x 18 x 10 in: the size IATA says many airlines apply.
YOYO2: Stokke gives the folded YOYO as 52 x 44 x 18 cm (20.5 x 17.3 x 7.1 in), and says YOYO strollers "are accepted or recognized as cabin luggage by most airline companies" since 2012. It adds that "cabin luggage standards may vary according to the airline." At 17.3 in, it fits IATA's box but is too wide for 22 x 14 x 9.
Minu V3: UPPAbaby gives 10 x 18 x 21.5 in and calls the Minu "International Air Transport Association (IATA) compatible." At 18 in wide, it also fits IATA's box exactly, and also misses 22 x 14 x 9.
By volume the YOYO2 folds to about 2,518 cubic inches and the Minu V3 to about 3,870, roughly half again as much. In a car trunk or hall closet, that is the difference you notice.
Key point: "fits the overhead bin" is the maker's comparison with a reference size, not an airline promise. Check your airline before you fly, and plan for gate check.
Weight: what you carry
The YOYO2 frame is listed at 13.7 lb with a padded shoulder strap; the Minu V3 is 16.7 lb, per UPPAbaby, with an integrated carry strap. The 3 lb gap shows up on stairs, on transit and when you carry the stroller with a baby in the other arm.
Using it from birth
This is where the two differ most.
Minu V3: its listing says it is "optimized from birth with a foot barrier, infinite recline, plus 2-crotch buckle positions," with a padded integrated insert. It is one box from birth to 50 lb.
YOYO2: the frame is sold on its own. For a newborn you add one of these:
- 0+ Newborn Pack: it "allows baby to lay completely flat, secured with the five-point harness," from birth "for babies up to 20 lbs," per its listing. Swap it for a 6+ Color Pack at six months.
- YOYO bassinet: Stokke's compatibility page says it launched for the YOYO2 in 2020.
- An infant car seat on YOYO car seat adapters.
The 6+ Color Pack is the seat for babies from six months. The newest pack listings name the YOYO3, but they also say "whether you own a BABYZEN YOYO2 or a Stokke YOYO3, rest assured that they remain fully compatible." Stokke's compatibility page agrees: the YOYO2 takes "any YOYO 0+, 6+ or Newborn Shell." The exception is the upcoming YOYO5, whose packs Stokke says do not fit older frames.
Basket and everyday use
UPPAbaby says the Minu V3's basket "holds up to 20 lbs." Stokke's compatibility page gives the YOYO2's basket a 5 kg (11 lb) limit, and the YOYO3's 10 kg (22 lb). If the stroller doubles as your grocery cart, the Minu or the YOYO3 carries more.
For a second child, Stokke says the YOYO2 works with the YOYO Board and YOYO Connect.
YOYO2, YOYO3 or YOYO5?
Stokke's compatibility page dates each version: YOYO2 from March 2020 to July 2024, then the YOYO3, rebranded from Babyzen to Stokke, until August 2026. The YOYO5 follows, with a "late 2026 release in US/CA," a heavier 7 kg frame and a wider 52 x 22 x 45 cm fold.
The YOYO2 frame on Amazon is new stock sold by Stokke's own store. The YOYO3 keeps the same fold and weight and doubles the basket limit.
Recall check: in November 2024 the CPSC announced a YOYO3 recall because "the parking brake on the recalled strollers can disengage." It covers YOYO3 strollers "with serial numbers starting with '142AA' followed by numbers that fall below '0062239,'" sold in September and October 2024; the YOYO2 is not included. Which to buy
- Buy the YOYO2 if the smallest, lightest fold matters most and you do not mind building it: frame plus a 6+ Color Pack, and a 0+ Newborn Pack or infant car seat for the first months.
- Buy the Minu V3 if you want one box from birth, a bigger basket and a fold that stands on its own: UPPAbaby Minu V3.
- Buy the YOYO3 for the YOYO fold with a 22 lb basket: Stokke YOYO3.
