NurseryProof helps new and expecting parents choose baby gear with the reasons attached. Every pick on the site comes with its proof: the safety standard it meets, a check of the recall records, and the specs and seller behind the listing.
We do not test products hands-on. Our guides are built from published standards, regulator data, brand specifications, and verified Amazon listings, and every guide says so. If we ever test a product ourselves, the page will say exactly what we did.
How we research
Standards
A safety claim on this site names its source. If a product's marketing claims something a standard does not support, we say so.
Recalls
Before a product goes on a list we search CPSC recall records for it and its maker, and we recheck listed products regularly.
The listing
Specs, dimensions, weights, and materials come from the brand or the listing, and are labelled as the listing's claims.
The seller
We link only to listings sold by Amazon.com or the brand's own store. A product only resellers carry becomes a search link, not a recommendation to buy from them.
The price
We quote the regular list price, not a sale price that may be gone tomorrow, and recheck prices every week.
The sources we rely on
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
Safe sleep guidance: back to sleep, a firm flat surface, nothing else in the crib, and room-sharing without bed-sharing.
- U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
Recall records and the federal safety standards for cribs, bassinets, play yards, high chairs, and infant sleep products.
- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
Car seat types, fit, and ease-of-use ratings. Every car seat sold in the US must meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213.
- International Hip Dysplasia Institute
Hip-healthy positioning for baby carriers, swaddles, and car seat inserts.
Ratings
We do not give star ratings to products we have not tested. A guide explains who each pick suits and why, and the Amazon star average, where we mention it, is labelled as Amazon's.
What gets a product cut
- An open recall on the product, or an unresolved pattern of safety complaints.
- Features the AAP advises against, such as inclined sleepers, crib bumpers, or loose bedding sold for infant sleep.
- Sleep or car seat safety claims a listing makes that no standard or regulator supports.
- No seller we can confirm, or a listing that swaps from one product to another under the same reviews.
- Prices that only look good against an inflated list price.
Not medical advice
NurseryProof is a buying guide, not a medical resource. Safety information here summarizes public guidance from the organizations above and links to it; it does not replace advice from your pediatrician. For car seats, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician can check your installation for free in most areas.

We correct errors rather than quietly deleting them. If a fact, a standard, a price or a link is wrong, email us and we will check it against the source within two business days. Corrections are made in the article and its Updated date changes. A new recall on a listed product is added to the article as soon as we see it.
